Our mission is to become disciples who make disciples.
We will labor in the Greater Kansas City area to connect people to one another and to God, to serve our community, and to encourage a deeper relationship with Jesus.
What’s Happening @ Central
Good News Saturday was a wonderful success this past Saturday. With the weather a little warmer than our first Good News Saturday, it seemed that people were more willing to pull in and stop. After inviting people in for two hours, we were able to pray with eight individuals!
Yesterday’s message from Bob Payne was a convicting, challenging time. As he pointed out, God is pouring His resources into our church through prayer, persons with amazing talent, and a renewed sense of purpose. I am praying for each one of YOU that you might consider committing to attending our Experiencing God Weekend. I will have a page up on the website later this week providing more details about the weekend.
As promised, we will be having a Town Hall Meeting after the morning worship service on February 12th. Mark Clifton and the Leadership Team will be available to answer any questions you might have concerning Central’s future path.
Finally, we are making plans for a big Easter Weekend at Central. Saturday, April 8th we will host an Egg Hunt! Amy Smith is coordinating the event for that day, so if you are interested in helping, please let her know. We have a very special guest who will be visiting our egg hunt this year, so when the announcement is made, I hope you will do your part in sharing this as widely as possible!
Thought for the Day
One of the verses that Bob Payne mentioned on Sunday was from the Gospel of Mark:
Mark 14:37 (ESV) ~ And he came and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, “Simon, are you asleep? Could you not watch one hour?
I think many of us would struggle to keep a prayer watch going for an hour, and that is a very sad commentary on the reality of Christian discipline in America. However, in the coming weeks I do want us to have a few “prayer vigils.” These will be times in the evening where we can gather together for nothing other than prayer. We won’t be praying from a list, we won’t be asking for anything from God but His presence and power to be made manifest among us as we seek His will and where He is working already among us.
These prayer vigils will culminate with a lengthier prayer vigil prior to our Experiencing God Weekend. In the coming weeks I will be using this space to talk about how we can pray, keeping a vigil (a watch), for an hour.
