Our Messages
medical_110006291-011314intWe’re continuing a new series of messages entitled Vital Signs.  There are five vital signs that a Christian ought to check in their own personal spiritual journey.  These vital signs will help us determine whether or not our spiritual life is as alive as it ought to be!  It’s all found in the Book of James.  We will be looking at each of these vital signs over the next few weeks.  We’ve completed two of the five vital signs, Standing With Confidence, and Serving With Compassion. Six down, and about six or seven to go! How alive is your faith?

The first of the five Vital Signs is the ability to Stand With Confidence, here are the three messages in that part of the series:

How to Stand When it Hurts

How to Stand When Tempted

Standing On God’s Word

We completed the second set of messages as part of the Vital Signs series, Serving With Compassion.  Here are the messages in that series:

Serving Without Prejudice

When Faith Isn’t Enough

We’ve begun the third set of messages dealing with the third vital sign for our Christian journey, Speaking With Care:

The Impossible Task

Missionary News
The New Life FWB Church in Svishtov, Bulgaria, hosted a “back to school” party, on Saturday, September 13th. The party also launched English clubs for kids, preschoolers, and teenagers. Ask God to give missionaries and church members unusual grace as they interact with parents and children. Pray, as rapport is established, families will be drawn to the church and, ultimately, to Christ.

FRANCE: Pray for all those involved in preparing for the next J’Pense, September 19th. Ask God to be in all the last-minute details. Pray many unbelievers will attend and be drawn to Him. Pray for Joel and Lydie Teague as they coordinate many volunteers. Pray all those currently in Bible studies as a result of previous events fully understand and accept the gospel.

MISSION FAMILY: Pray for the health of missionaries. Ask God to strengthen them physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Several families are struggling with issues relating to aging parents or health challenges with extended family members. Pray for any spiritual needs these family members may have. Other missionaries have new babies in the home. Some have their own health issues. Pray also for former missionaries with immediate health needs. Ask God to make His presence known through perfect peace and unspeakable joy in the midst of turmoil. Pray for wisdom, rest, and trust.

PANAMA: Continue to pray for Jorge Lopez (August 27 Hotline) as he recuperates from his September 1st brain surgery to slow the progression of Parkinson’s Disease. Praise God for working through the surgical team. Pray for speech and vision to be fully restored. Ask God to give strength, grace, and comfort to his family.

BULGARIA: Pray for Josh and Lydia Provow and their children (Naomi, Phoebe, Zoe, and Malachi) as they began the trip to North Carolina on Friday, September 12th. Pray the seven-week (September 14th-October 30th) intensive training will equip them to handle all the changes, challenges, and opportunities of the coming months. Ask God to work in the visa approval process. Pray their remaining funding will come in soon so they can depart for Bulgaria by the end of the year.

Bible Challenges
Bible Reading Challenge:
James 3:1-18

Bible Memorization Challenge: James 3:17 (ESV)…17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.

Pastor’s Note
Fall leavesWow, the weather sure did change! We may see a few more days in the 80’s, but I believe the 90’s are gone for the remainder of this year. Leaves are already starting to change color on the trees. The mornings are crisp. School is well underway, and that means all of the other, extra-curriculum activities are in full swing, as well. Our lives have once again gotten very busy. That busyness is exactly what we must be wary of; we can easily get too busy to pay attention to what the Lord is telling us!

Do you know where Central is heading, as a church? Do you know what we’re doing to get there? Do you know what your role is in getting us there? All of these questions, and more, are currently being discussed (or will be shortly) by the Advisory Board and myself. I believe that until we answer these questions, and implement some strong guidance and directions, we’re not going to see growth. Growth isn’t about numbers, it is all about spiritual health and well-being. We’ll let the Lord be concerned about the numbers, while we focus on being what He wants us to be! While we’re discussing the above questions, and formulating a plan of action, will you please keep us lifted up in prayer? Maybe even fast and pray on September 23rd as the Advisory Board and I meet? The Lord is good, and He will provide the answers we need!

I hope to see you in church, soon!
