Missionary News
E-TEAM: Team leader training is complete, and the students arrived on June 12th.  Pray teams will learn to work together as they practice music and mimes, train for cross-cultural ministry, understand a biblical basis for missions, study cultural norms for their specific country, engage in team dynamics, and more.  Ask God to give the team leaders and students a sense of mission and unity, flexibility, and an attitude of service.

Globally: Many churches around the world are experiencing the challenges of the summer months, like their counterparts in the States.  Ask God to encourage church members to be faithful.  Pray for Vacation Bible Schools and other outreach events to be well attended.  Pray many children and adults will hear and understand the gospel.

Panama: Two Panamanians are once again submitting the paperwork for accreditation of the Chame seminary to the Ministry of Education (MEDUCA).  Pray MEDUCA will accept the paperwork without any new requirements.  Seminary personnel have gone through this time-consuming, expensive process many times over the last three years.  Ask God to give favor to Myrna and Raul as they talk with officials and present the paperwork.

Brazil: Continue to pray for the Marincek FWB Church in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil, and their young pastor, Hattus Almeida.  Ask God to give him wisdom, a teachable spirit, and humility in his first pastorate.  Pray the congregation will extend grace and patience as he learns and grows.

India: The heat in India continues in the triple-digits.  Pray the monsoon season will make an early appearance, cooling temperatures.  Pray for safety and wisdom for Brother Carlisle Hanna as he copes with the extreme heat.  Brother Hanna requests prayer for “an early settlement of the many (court) cases that take up too much time and energy, (and) expense.”  Several of these cases involve vandalism of church property or contested property rights.  Ask God to intervene, giving judges a desire to settle cases fairly, honestly, and quickly.  Pray, in all situations, Christians will demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit and present an excellent testimony.

Bible Challenges
Bible Reading Challenge: Acts 17:16-34

Bible Memorization Challenge: Acts 17:26–27 (ESV)…26 And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place,  27 that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him.  Yet he is actually not far from each one of us…

Pastor’s Note

FatherhoodFather’s Day is over.  Now comes the real challenge…living up to all of those nice things that we read about ourselves in the cards that we received!  I don’t know about you, but I know that some of those things I read…weren’t true.  I am not the “best” or the “most.”  Or am I?

I think we fail to realize just how important we are in each other’s lives.  We fail to see that God has placed us together in our families, and even in our church family.  Paul’s message to the people of Athens, recorded in Acts 17:16-34, tells something about this.  In that message, Paul stated that it was God who determined our allotted period of time and the boundaries of our dwelling place.  In other words, God has planted us in a family, and even in a church family, for one major reason.  It is through these family interactions that He works to draw us toward Himself.  So, in that sense, I am the “best” and the “most” because God has planned this all out in advance.  He has placed me where and when He wants me to be.  He has done this so that I will seek Him, and so that I can direct others toward Him.

You see, we all have a part to play.  While we may not think much of it, God has orchestrated our lives so that we have everything we need to seek Him…because He desires to be found by us!  I am so glad that I have found the Lord!  I pray that I will play my role as well as possible, so that others might find Him.  What a tremendous thought, what a tremendous challenge.  May God grant to us the strength and the grace needed to fulfill our part in this greatest of all challenges!

I hope to see you in church, soon!
