Missionary News
CMP: The two CMP (College Missions Program) teams arrived at their destinations—Bulgaria and South Korea—Tuesday, July 8th.  Ask God to help them adjust quickly, embrace opportunities to be outspoken witnesses of Truth, and further His Kingdom.

Ramadan (June 28-July27): Today is day 18 of the 30 Days of Prayer for the Muslim World during Ramadan, the Muslim holy month.  Today’s prayer focus are the Beary Muslims of south India.  Almost half (45%) of the world’s unreached people groups are Muslim.  Pray for Bibles in native languages, broadcasts into closed countries, and understanding hearts for those who hear.

Panama: Steve and Judy Lytle arrived from Panama Monday night, July 7th.  Pray for them as they readjust and set up services.  Ask God to bless their time in the States and to protect them while they travel.

Mission Family: Pray for expectant missionary mothers Miriam Bishop (Japan, due in January 2015), Brenda Carney (Japan, due in September), and Joni Hubbard (Japan, due in August).  Pray for healthy pregnancies and safe deliveries.

Globally: Pray for special events—carnivals and festivals, Vacation Bible Schools, Bible clubs, camps, etc.—held during summer months around the world.  Each event has the same purpose: share the gospel message with boys and girls (and eventually their parents) who do not know Jesus.  Pray many children and teens will hear the name of Jesus for the first time this summer and will come to know Him as Savior.  Ask God to give wisdom and strength to missionaries and church workers as they plan and implement events.

National Association: Pray for all who are involved in planning for the National Association in Fort Worth, Texas, July 27th-30th.  Ask God to bless the business sessions.  Pray delegates will be engaged, seeking God’s leadership in decision-making.  Pray for unity and wisdom, and for God to be honored and glorified in all that is done.  Ask God to grant safety of travel to all who attend.  Pray our Panamanian guest will be well received and will leave encouraged and strengthened in his faith.

Bible Challenges
Bible Reading Challenge: Jeremiah 29:1-32

Bible Memorization Challenge: Jeremiah 29:7 (ESV)…7 But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.

Pastor’s Note
I know, I’m a day late in sending out the weekly newsletter.  However, I have a good reason for being a day late.  Yesterday I celebrated 35 years of marriage to the best (and only) wife in the world for me!  What a tremendous blessing it is to have a godly wife.  I could have never imagined what these previous 35 years would bring, but God knew and provided me with the best possible helper, companion, and friend through it all.  I told Sharon yesterday that since the first 35 years have worked out so well I will sign on for the next 35 year hitch (Lord willing).

Well, the summer construction period is winding to a close.  I have one more message in the series Danger: Construction Ahead.  It has been challenging to prepare for these messages, as most of the time God has to preach them to me before I can preach them to you!  I’m looking forward to completing this series of messages, and getting back into the school year, as well.  We’ll be feeding the High School football team in September.  We’ll also be packing up the BandSnacks for the marching band.  Unfortunately, it looks like we will no longer be participating in the BackSnacks program with Butcher-Greene Elementary School and Harvesters, as we have no one to coordinate the packing and delivery of the BackSnacks.

The Advisory Board will be finishing up a unified vision statement for Central Church this month.  Why is that important?  A vision statement helps us to focus our energies on what is truly important, and it provides a more effective means of evaluating current ministries.  Rather than just doing things the way we’ve always done them, a vision statement allows us the opportunity to seek change that can promote growth.  Pray for the Advisory Board as we move forward with this important step in the life of Central Church.

One last reminder, if you haven’t yet turned in your update package for the church directory, please do so ASAP.  We are trying to get the directory updated, as well as include photos of every family that attends Central.  This new directory will be a much better product than the simple paper sheets with names and addresses.  It will allow us to put a face to the name, and better connect with one another.  Please turn in your update packages to Micole Guzman or Sharon Kinder.

I hope to see you in church, soon!
