Central News for January 4, 2016

Central Church seeks to glorify God by bringing others to faith in Jesus Christ and seeing lives changed by teaching and living God’s truth.

Recent Messages
We’ve started a new year, and we’ve started a new message series, as well.  Welcome to The Cure for the Common Church.  The average church in America, Central Church included, needs to face the facts.  If we don’t reach our community with the message of Jesus Christ, then we are failing.  In the next several weeks we’ll be looking at what we can find in Hebrews to see if there is such thing as a cure…it starts with Jesus First.

Pastor’s Note
One down, only 51 Sundays left in this year.  I said this yesterday to remind us all that we shouldn’t take any Sunday for granted.  When we miss Sunday services, we miss an opportunity to gather together in worship; we miss the opportunity to motivate one another to continue to do good works; we miss an opportunity to be encouraged.  I would also like to encourage you to consider making Wednesday evening services a part of your routine.  It is another opportunity that you can take advantage of to encourage and be encouraged.  It is another opportunity to learn and grow (I’ve been told that some of my best messages have come on Wednesday nights).

I’m also looking forward to hearing stories from you about how your life has been impacted by putting Jesus first during this past week.  Remember, it isn’t about religion or church, it is about putting Jesus first and drawing closer to the Lord.

angel holding a swordThis next week we’re going to be taking a deeper look at Jesus.  It is a theological look.  I know, some of you probably just turned this whole thing off…theology.  In today’s world we are all about practicality.  Yet without a solid theological understanding of Jesus we can easily fall into numerous ditches marked with heresy.  If we are going to cure the common church, we need a healthy dose of theology.  Besides, it is what the author of Hebrews uses.  This coming Sunday we’re going to be talking about Jesus, and angels.  It will all come down to one thing, Jesus Reigns Over Angels.

I hope to see you in church soon!
