Our Messages
Since it is a new year, don’t you think it is a good idea to look at what it means to use our time wisely? I do, that’s what this series of messages is all about.

Missionary News
Stateside: Pray for missionaries as they resume travel this month. Ask God to grant safety as they deal with dangerous weather conditions. Pray their services will honor God and the work He is doing around the globe. Ask for many people to respond to the challenge to participate in the Great Commission through prayer, regular giving, and, perhaps, through going themselves.

India: Carlisle Hanna returned to the States on January 9th. Brother Carlisle carries a heavy load in India. Pray for rest and physical and spiritual renewal. Ask God to grant wisdom, energy, discernment, and grace to continue to accomplish all He desires.

Panama: Steve and Lori Torrison and their daughters Melanie and Abby returned to the States on Monday night, January 13th. Pray for them as they acclimate to the States, settle in, and begin sharing their story.

Korea: David O. is returned from Korea on January 15th. A Korean teen traveled with him and plans to attend school in Nashville. Pray for Daniel and his adjustment to Nashville, southern culture, and American schooling. Two of the pastors David taught last week are now teaching the material to students in Pakistan. Pray for their safety and effective ministry.

Japan: Pray for a woman who recently accepted a New Testament from Heath and Joni Hubbard. Pray she will diligently read the Word, seek the Truth, and come to know Christ. Pray for Eli and Micah (the Hubbards’ boys) as they attend Japanese preschool. Ask God to protect their hearts, help them learn Japanese, and adjust to their new schedule and school.

Globally: Pray for missionaries as they serve overseas. Pray for encouragement after the flurry of activity around the holidays. Ask God to give them strength for their tasks, good health and good medical care when needed, wisdom as they interact with the lost, humility as they work with other Christians, discernment as He opens doors of opportunity, appropriate time for family, and, above all, consistent time with Him.

Bible Challenges
Bible Reading Challenge: Galatians 5:16-26

Bible Memorization Challenge: Ephesians 5:18 (ESV)…18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit…

Pastor’s Note
I often wonder why I take the time to put my sermons online for people to access. I know that not many ever listen to them. I sometimes think it is an exercise in pride, “Look at me, I have my sermons online for the world to listen to.” Then I see that a sermon has been downloaded by someone from China. I hear that someone locally, who doesn’t attend church, listens to some of my sermons. I see a Facebook post from a friend who is struggling with something I preached about last year, and can send them a link. I am reminded that I may never know the extent of what God uses that I may be a part of, and I praise Him! While we may not know how far our touch goes, it does go. Never doubt that God can use our efforts when we desire to serve Him. If you are doubting your worth in the kingdom, don’t!

What steps are you taking this week to follow God’s will for your life? If you’re doing nothing, because you’re not sure of what God’s will is, then you aren’t paying attention! There is plenty for us to do, even when we don’t know what God’s specific plan is for this specific moment. Go call someone who needs encouraging. Pray for someone who needs to know Jesus as their Savior. Tell someone about Jesus, and what He means in your life because of what He’s done for you. All of those are within God’s will right now, no matter the circumstances you are facing.

I hope to see you in church soon!
