Crazy

Is it just me, or has the past week been somewhat crazy? When life gets crazy, it is easy to forget that our primary connection is supposed to be with Jesus Christ. Amid the chaos and hectic nature of this world, He is the one source of peace that can drive away the “crazy” of the day. So, remember who the author and perfecter of your faith is supposed to be! Hebrews 12:1–2 (ESV)–1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by…
A man comes across an open Bible in the forest

Are you following a leader?

As I’m beginning to finalize preparations for my sermon on Sunday, I am struck by something.  It may not be very profound, in fact it may be obvious to most of you.  However, I’m going to write this down and send it out, anyway. Following someone, truly following someone, takes far more than simply moving from Point A to Point B.  If you think that you’re following someone just because you are moving in the same general direction that someone…

Making Changes

Change is necessary for growth.  That is an absolute in God’s universe.  Nothing ever grows unless it goes through a process of change.  So, we shouldn’t be scared of change, or even resistant to change.  As Christians, we are called to a lifetime of growth in our maturity and Christian walk.  That means we, above all people, ought to embrace change.  At least, we ought to embrace change when it is for the purpose of growth, or at east helps…

Personal Position Regarding Marriage

The U.S. Supreme Court has made a decision concerning marriage that appears to violate the clear teachings of God in the Bible.  Since the U.S. Supreme Court in that decision did not specifically state that ministers and churches would be allowed to fully live out their faith (the majority decision only stated that ministers and churches were free to advocate and teach according to their faith) I feel it is prudent to state clearly what my personal position is concerning marriage:…

Change of plans

Sometimes events are planned and everything goes according to the plan.  Sometimes, circumstances change, and as a result the plans have to change as well. Such is the case for this coming Sunday.  We were going to have an ordination service for Tim Smith and Brett Daire; however, Tim’s father has been hospitalized, and as a result Tim’s mom and dad won’t be able to be here for the ordination.  Since we were already waiting for a suitable date for…
