A weekly collection of what’s happening at Central Church along with a short devotional thought on a topic of interest.

Pastor’s Notes for April 26, 2021

What’s Happening @ Central What changes a week can bring… Last week I mentioned the progress that was being made toward beginning the restoration process within the church building. All that information I gave you was the best I had, at the moment. Now, some things have changed. Our insurance company was shocked by the dollar figure submitted by the restoration company in their estimate of remaining work to be accomplished. This led to the need for the adjustor to…

What’s Happening @ Central I bet some of you are wondering about what is happening regarding the restoration process at the church. Well, here is what I know as of today. Nothing is currently scheduled, as far as workers/projects go. We are waiting for the insurance adjustor to approve the mitigation and restoration plans that have been submitted. Once those plans have been approved, the restoration company can get back to work of the project. I have been communicating with…

Pastor’s Notes for April 12, 2021

What’s Happening @ Central We had another great day in the Lord, yesterday, if I do say so myself! We will be discussing the collision course we are on with society for the next few weeks, looking at ways that Jesus has told us to overcome this collision and not get knocked off our feet. Now, how are we doing, regarding repairing and restoring the church? Well, the work has once again slowed. Not much can be done until we…

Pastor’s Notes for April 5, 2021

What’s Happening @ Central Easter Sunday was a special day for Central. It was our first Easter together as a church family since 2019. It was the highest attendance we have recorded in over a year! While it wasn’t what we normally experience on Easter, it was a nice way to celebrate what is one of the best days. We have had a lot of work done in the church this past week, with all of the sheetrock being replaced…

Pastor’s Notes for March 29, 2021

What’s Happening @ Central It was so good to see some of you returning to services yesterday! I look forward to seeing more of the church returning over the next few weeks as the pandemic appears to be winding down. This coming Saturday we will open The Fig Leaf to distribute clothing. I’m not sure how we will organize all of the racks (location, etc.) but I do believe the church is in good enough condition that we can open.…

Pastor’s Notes for March 22, 2021

What’s Happening @ Central Well, last week was another lesson in how the Midwest can be, destructive. On Monday, as several people were working on projects in the church, a severe thunderstorm blew through the area. During the worst of the storm, a lightning strike hit close-by. It was close enough that I thought I could hear (and feel) the sizzle of the static charge before the actual strike hit. My computer screen went black for a second before returning…

Pastor’s Notes for March 15, 2021

What’s Happening @ Central I am so glad we were able to have in-person services again. While the church restoration is going slowly (actually, not progressing at all currently) we will make it through, eventually. However, until we get to the end, we will need to allow for the inconvenience of a single restroom. While not ideal, it seems to be a workable solution, for now. I know it isn’t what any of us wanted, especially as we look forward…

Pastor’s Notes for March 1, 2021

What’s Happening @ Central I was reminded last week that God’s timing is perfect. Want an example to prove it? At the end of 2020, we decided to invest in upgrading our sound and video equipment. It was overdue, as we had not made a significant investment in this area since I have been at the church, other than replacing the sound board about 15-16 years ago after the existing board decided it was time to retire. We wanted to…

Pastor’s Notes for February 22, 2021

What’s Happening @ Central Well, this past Sunday wasn’t exactly like what we wanted. I watched the video from the security cameras and found that the water leak began on Wednesday afternoon, about an hour AFTER Sharon and I left the church building. I almost went to the church on Thursday but got carried away with my schedule and so didn’t make it. As a result, the water was pouring into the church for nearly 48 hours before it was…

Pastor’s Notes for February 15, 2021

What’s Happening @ Central We are already halfway through February. Easter will be here before we know it (April 4th this year). While I don’t think the COVID restrictions will be gone by then, I do hope that more people will feel comfortable beginning to return to the pre-pandemic way of life in regard to church. While we have worked hard to make the online experience as good as possible, nothing will replace the fellowship that we are meant to…
