History

Central began in a home in Kansas City in February of 1963 when a group of people decided to spread the Gospel message in their neighborhood. They soon called a pastor, and found a building to use as a substitute for their home. BY 1976, the church had begun to outgrow their building, many of the people who had started the church had moved out of the neighborhood, and the facility was reaching its limits. The church voted to sell the building to another congregation after finding and purchasing land in Grandview.

By 1982, the new Central Church had been built at 3200 Blue Ridge Extension and was ready to move into. A few years later the building was expanded to meet the growing needs of the congregation. Central Church has been active in Grandview and South Kansas City ever since.

Eight pastors have served the congregation since its formation. Each has brought a different emphasis with the core value of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ always at the forefront of the ministries of the church

Since its beginning, Central Church has been affiliated with the Free Will Baptist denomination.
