Lyndell grew up in Greenbrier, Arkansas. He gave his heart to the Lord Jesus Christ during a Revival at the Greenbrier Free Will Baptist Church when 13 years old. He and his wife, Rosalind, married in 1961. They have two daughters, (Rhonda and Cathy), two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. After high school graduation, he served in the U.S. Army. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Arkansas. He worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency. He became a member of the Central Free Will Baptist Church in 1970 and became an ordained deacon in 1982. In addition to serving as deacon, he has served as Sunday School Superintendent, taught Sunday School and served on the Advisory and Facility Boards.
