Bible Reading Challenge: Malachi 2:17-3:5
Bible Memory Challenge: Malachi 3:1 (ESV)—“Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. And the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts.”
Well, that was a quick vacation for Sharon and I! While it was short, it was enjoyable, and much-needed on my part. I feel refreshed and recharged. I guess that is the point of taking some vacation time…
The summer months tend to be the time when we do those kind of things, take some time away. Getting away from the routine is a good thing. Seeing new things, experiencing differences and challenges in a new light; all of these can be good things. Along with Joel’s message from yesterday, let me add some challenges. Try to see someone this week in a new way. Decide to look for that person that everyone else is ignoring and be the person that doesn’t ignore them. Speak to someone you normally would avoid. Ask someone if you can pray for them this week. The series of messages that we are going through this summer in Malachi are meant to force us to look at our relationship with the Lord in new ways. When we get into a rut, we tend to need something to come along and push us out. That’s what these messages are designed to do.
Hey, don’t forget about Celebrate Grandview. June 10th is going to be a busy day for us, as I am expecting around 200-250 people to come out for the event. It has gotten plenty of exposure around the community and hopefully will be a means for us to get the church promoted in a very positive light. Volunteers are needed for setting up in the morning (arrive around 9:00 AM), food preparation and cooking/serving. Clean up and tear down will also need some willing hands (and strong backs). If you can help with any of these tasks, then show up ready to work. If all of those sound beyond your ability to assist, we will also need people inside the church to direct people to the restrooms (as well as keep the restrooms clean/stocked), sanctuary, and fellowship hall.
With the busyness of summer on our doorstep—what are you doing to be the church?
