- Missionary News
Japan: Pray for Doug, Miriam, Oliver, and Scarlet Bishop as they adjust to living in the Abashiri area of Hokkaido, Japan. Pray Miriam will be able to learn the Japanese language easily.
Spain: Pray the various Bible studies of the Alpedrete church will strengthen Christians’ faith, relationships with one another, and witness to the community. Men meet weekly to study Titus. Women meet bi-weekly. A small group, geared for outreach to unsaved family and friends, meets Friday nights. Two young people are involved in discipleship studies in preparation for baptism. Pray for more participation and lives changed and impacted by the gospel.
France: Pray for a Turkish Muslim couple. The gentleman has begun Bible studies with a young man in the St. Sebastien church. Ask God to use His Word to illuminate Truth in this couple’s lives.
Panama: Pray for Carlos, a boy in a children’s home near the Chame institute. The house parents transport the boys to the church plant at the institute each Sunday. Carlos is extremely ill and has been sent to Panama City for tests. He told Steve Lytle he has accepted Christ as Savior. Pray for his health as well as increased spiritual understanding and growth.
Globally: As in the States, many people attend church activities during the Christmas season who will not enter the church other times of the year. Pray participants will serve the Lord gladly. Pray attendees will be prepared to hear the message of salvation. Ask God to build unity in congregations as they focus on His magnificent gift of salvation wrapped in His Child.

- Pastor’s Note
First things first; there are four different ways we will try and let you know if services are going to be canceled as a result of inclement weather. Once a decision has been made by myself (I seek input from the deacons about this) we will immediately start calling families using the Deacon Family lists. We update these periodically, but you can help by making sure we have the most current contact information from you. Second, we post our closing on Fox 4’s Total Closings, they will update the scroll on their broadcast concerning our status. Third, we update our Facebook page. Lastly, we update our church website. A final word about inclement weather and our services. I make the decision based mostly on conditions here in Grandview. Understandably, conditions may differ across the Metro area. Ultimately, you must make a decision for yourself as to whether or not it is safe to travel to Central in the event of inclement weather. I would urge you to err on the side of caution!
Second, if you missed yesterday’s service, then you also missed our special recognition of Edwin Bowden’s 27+ years of ministry here at Central Church. Edwin is stepping down from the Advisory Board due to ongoing health and job situations. He will continue to teach our Senior adult Sunday School class, the Encouragers.
Personally, I want to thank all of you for your prayers during my recovery from shoulder surgery. It has been a struggle, at times, but the Lord is faithful, and your prayers have been answered. While I am still a long way from 100 percent, I am seeing many positive signs that my arm and shoulder will be better than ever once I complete my physical therapy.
A quick thought before closing this week’s newsletter. God loves you! Completely, wholly, personally…loves you. Without a doubt, He loves you. Let that sink in for a few moments before you click “Delete.” Regardless of what you’re told this week, God’s love for you hasn’t ended.
I hope to see you in church soon!
